Moments of Passion and Pain is a multi-media zine comprised of original photographs (35mm), poems, prose, and illustration. It was produced for my second-year FMP at college.  

The title Moments of Passion and Pain (I'll refer to it as MoPaP from here on) is a reference to  the filmmaker and photographer Kiarostami whose nature photography and attitudes towards art heavily inspired me. Throughout the zine I also reference E.M Forster, whose eternal genius and understanding of life, I hope to reference more in my work. The zine can mean anything you want it to mean or absolutely nothing at all. But if you happen to be interested what I had in mind as I designed it, read on. I was inspired to make MoPaP due to an internal shift of innocence. Life is always shocking to me. I started to have the feeling that life was cyclical. Growing up I had a sneaky little subconscious belief that when I was 30 I would get married and have children and a house and that would be my Happily Ever After, my HEA. But I found/find myself, in a constant cycle of content and discontent, in a cycle of saying hello and saying goodbye. Of moving from stagnation to vigour to despair all over again. I made this zine to come to terms with the realisation that the only real destination in life is death. Until then the world keeps turning and life with it. Moments of Passion and Pain is an important piece of work to me because it is the first piece of art I've made that a) I feel proud of and b) that I feel represents me as an artist. I feel hopeful about the possibilities of my future art, so watch this space !!!

Dogme 95 "My supreme goal is to force the truth out of my characters and settings." What interests me about the Dogme 95 manifesto (the films it produced, and the people that produced it) is the reactive response it tends to provoke. There was lots of literature out there on the web about Dogme 95, a stark contrast to my research into Valentine de Saint-Point. Armour for The Apocalypse: A New Fashion Era

A NEW FASHION ERA : ARMOUR FOR THE APOCALYPSE Harry, Yasmin, Mike, Luke, Carla BRAINSTORMING RESEARCH - We researched sustainable materials. MOODBOARDS PLANNING AND MOCK UPS PROCESS - the hands on the logo is ESL for 'horse', there are 4 to symbolise the four horsemen of the apocalypse. The colours represent the colours of those horses. The eye is a reference to the biblical description of angels and a symbol of judgement, enlightenment, and conscience. - The materials we used were all clothes that we don't wear anymore, lots of the clothes we used had become to small for us. To make a pattern for the hoodie we unpicked an old hoodie. For the arms we used a pair of sweatpants. I liked this way of making clothes - it made me unexpectedly happy to see my old sweatpants become something new. - We also had time to quickly make a gillet out of our unused scraps.
